Amlib Integration Options

Client OPAC and Web OPAC
One of Amlib's most powerful integrations is the fact that patrons can search the library catalog to find more than just traditional items in the library.  These days patrons can expect to find many types of electronic resources as well.  Such resources include e-journals, websites and pictures - just to name a few.

Z39.50 - Searching Multiple Locations
With Amlib’s Z39.50 Client Module in place, your library’s catalogers can search and retrieve quality MARC records from databases across the Internet.  From the patron’s aspect searching the library catalog now opens new doors.  The local library may not always hold the items that patrons is looking for.  Now the patron can decide to search different libraries, groups of libraries or every library in the region to gain access to the materials and electronic resources they need.

SIP2 and Third Party Integration
Amlib is compliant with SIP2 protocol allowing it to interface with a host of modules for 3rd party integration.  This allows Amlib to interface with options like self-checkout, telephone notification and RFID, the latest in theft detection systems.  Vendors that already have certified integration with Amlib include: 3M Self Check, QLS, Raeco Fast Track, STi LogiTrack RFID, and Talking i-tiva Telephone Renewal. 

Recently, many of our libraries have been implementing Digital Media Reserve ®, a web-based digital media platform that allows library patrons to download popular digital audio books, eBooks and other resources.  Our SIP2 Module allows patrons to use their existing library card number and PIN numbers to access those great new resources.  Learn more about Overdrive.

Staff Modules
One more reason that the Amlib system will make daily activities easier for library staff is the truly integrated approach of the entire system layout.  Circulation staff have patron, item and financial information right at their fingertips.  Catalogers have access to MARC data, item records, authority records, serial records – all easily cross-referenced across the different areas of the system.  Those in charge of ordering materials have access to an acquisitions module that is closely integrated with financial records, supplier records, MARC record, item records and other resources needed in the system.  Finally, administrators are able to easily review system parameters, user privileges and statistical information across different locations.

Email
Another important integration accomplished by Amlib is the seamless e-mail functionality.  Whether your library wishes to e-mail overdue notices, claim notices, or orders to suppliers, Amlib can automatically send those e-mails on user-defined schedules.

Electronic Ordering
Amlib provides integration with vendors using EDIFACT electronic ordering.  This advanced method of ordering now takes your acquisitions process to the next level.  For those libraries that serve as central processing locations or simply handle regular ordering, your workflow is now going to be even more worry free.  You create the order and then let Amlib do the rest!

Community Information
Amlib Library Management System also meets the needs of media centers and libraries serving surrounding community organizations.  The Amlib system has the ability to book any type of media or equipment as well as facilities.  Other options include full management of equipment and facility records integrated with the other area of the system.

Computer Usage and Print Management
Amlib Library Management System now has integration with a full featured PC booking system that covers the areas of booking and scheduling with options for charging, reporting and managing print options for computers used by the public.
